Never let it be said that Philip Baldwin will work himself into an early grave. Intelligent? Undoubtedly. Warm Hearted? That’s certain. A good mate to his stalwart Ed? Well, off and on. Interested in women? Of course! But dedicated to hard work? No way! This is not to say that Phil is an unsuccessful type of guy, however. He has successfully dropped out of university, and sometimes held shallow and brief relationships with sexy women. Phil’s ambitions in life are to surf a lot, break the girlfriend drought and work as little as possible. These ambitions do not include nappy delivery. But when money doesn’t grow on trees, even the best have to resort to the lowest of the low. Phil has no choice but to accept a delivery job with his eccentric Uncle Sam, owner of the well-known “Nappy Sam’s” Delivery Service. Sam can now unwind to spend more time analysing nappies, and write caring notes of advice to the parents. To everyone’s surprise, Phil’s good at his job. He charms the young mothers, and has the uncanny knack of soothing even the wildest babies. Parents love him, and Sam suspects they may even abuse his talents. It is even in Sam’s interest to turn a blind eye to the sandy van and the long lunch breaks. Phil, in short, is good for business. Until recently. Inadvertently and oh, so innocently, Phil has become the centre of some very negative attention. Scarily negative even. They say trouble comes in threes, but in Phil’s case this seems to be an underestimate. Can he ever restore his carefree existance and re-enter the good books of the no-nonsense midwife Fran?

Take one of the most challenging times of an adults life the birth of their first child, picture those parents at their most vulnerable, lonely moments at home with the baby- and then give them the most unlikely of heroes - the unmotivated, self- absorbed and yet strangely likeable guy who delivers and picks up the nappies for the nappy service. This is a really fun story about a guy on a quest to remove himself from any pressures of life and a career, who much to his disgust, finds he has a special gift with babies - and their parents. This is a great story begging to be made into a film!
I FOUND THE BOOK EASY TO READ, HUMOUROUS AND QUIRKY. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE BOOK TO MY FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES.
Uncomfortably familiar in places, I really enjoyed this book.
