I am so sad to have read (thrice to check) this comic as Galactus feels so small. The drawing is fine but the story... is like the Ultimates would be having a wishful and delirious dream.This is not Galactus, rather a giant beginner actor trying to portrait Galactus. The plot is about T'Challa teleporting in front of Galactus and the team of Ultimates executing a plan to attack the vast being. The problem is that we see very improbable events because they are highly opportunistic:
* T'Challa and Ultimates can appear in front of Galactus and subject him (?) Galactus' ship has high technological advanced defenses. These same Ultimates were incapable to breach a force field made by an old Soviet scientist to almost die in Secret Invasion and here they can break into Galactus ship????
* Galactus happens to recall in that precise moment his origin as Galactus and T'Challa sees it as a vision (?)
* The Ultimates cannot know it but apparently they know that Galactus can change to a different opposite... how?!
Galactus is in classic comics a creature so vast that he is not perceived as he really is; rather the mind tries to fit him in a familiar aspect that can be processed (similar to the Endless in Gaiman Sandman mythology) so humanity sees him with the shape of a human; extraterrestrials seen him with the shape of their respective species. Here instead Galactus is actually a humanoid and rather common being other than his height. Also in classic stories he's so beyond us that he only gets to pay attention to Reed Richards, the rest are distant nuissances; in this comic he speaks to T'Challa as if Galactus himself would know the box-office of the Black Panther movie so feel obligated to treat him with respect. The fight with the Ultimates is just so easy. In the original Secret Wars the ship of Galactus was so amazing and epic, in this comic is just a kind of spacial public toilet where you can enter in any moment and catch Galactus while sitting, a bit more and Galactus was drawn playing the trending cell phone game of the moment.

Marvel New cosmic crusaders are strong smart and up for the infinite tasks ahead of them. I devoured the first two volumes and can't wait for more. I never much cared for the marvel cosmic mythos but reading the Ultimates is a wonderfully fresh take.
Interesting take on the origins of galactus. Making him the devourer of worlds because he is incomplete, not as part of the universal plan upends decades of stories.
New twists, new aspects to the team's abilities, new characters I love this run! Hope that it never ends I can't get enough!
Trying to make this fit in with the event did not work so well. Seemed more to be about a tie in to sell another issue.
Excellent drawing, coloring and lettering. The story line isn't that good.
Nice resolution to the Carol and America problem. Love Monica and Adam together. They need their own book love this
The Ultimates volume two is a strange mix of the extreme science problem solving the book was sold to me on and dealing with civil war 2. I mean its not totally unreasonable i suppose, Carol Danvers is one of the key characters in that story, and shes a member of the Ultimates. That part of the book is basically carol using the team to prove her agenda of using future sight to prevent bad things from happening. A chunk fo the team dont care for being used, and the rest of the book is basically watching the team tear itself apart as each member has their own idea of that the team was. I dinged the book a star because apparently off panel Black Panther did something terrible to Carol there finally destroyed the team. I think this actually happened in the civil war 2 miniseries, but i really think it should have been included here. So if you haven't read that before you read this volume, you have to guess what horrible thing he did to Carol. That kind of bugged me, and was a black mark on an otherwise really good story.
